TROY, N.Y. (Oct 11, 2025) - Seen through a green-tinted ruler, Olli Otty, development manager at Joseph's House, takes notes in their office in New York's Capital Region. The in-camera effect was created by experimenting with objects found in the workspace.
TROY, N.Y. (Oct 11, 2025) - Ollie Otty works in their office at Joseph's House, where they serve as a development manager supporting programs for the homeless community in New York's Capital Region. The organization, currently facing a decline in federal funding, provides emergency shelter, outreach, and advocacy for individuals experiencing housing insecurity. "I love my job because I know what we do is important, but the lack of support is exhausting," Otty said.

Hiking by Miriam "Mimi" Quintana.
This video features Joseph, someone that just joined a local Upstate New York hiking group. Joseph is also an avid birder, and he shares a little bit about how he got into hiking, and the unexpected benefits of birding. We join him on a nearby hike as he searches for a Great Blue Heron that's been spotted in the area.
Non-Profits by Miriam "Mimi" Quintana.
This video features Ollie who works as a grant writer for a homeless shelter. Although initially they were seeking a job purely to make money and help create some financial stability, the work is still near and dear to their heart because they themselves have faced housing insecurity growing up. I appreciate the work this organization does and think it's important to highlight stories like these
